Michelle Smith is a Bay Area native. She has been an attorney licensed to practice law in California for over 20 years. She speaks English and Spanish. She lived and studied law in Mexico. Most of her work as an attorney has involved advocating for immigrants’ rights. She believes everyone, regardless of their legal status here in the United States, deserves to be treated fairly with dignity and respect.
Since 2015, she has worked as an immigration attorney representing immigrants in deportation proceedings and in applications for affirmative asylum, adjustment of status, and naturalization. Prior to working in immigration, she worked as a senior trial attorney for the National Labor Relations Board, where most of her cases involved prosecuting employers for discrimination against immigrants in the workplace. She appreciates and enjoys working with immigrants because she can help them achieve their dreams and receive the benefits from all the hard work and care that they put into our communities.
